Shastrarth is a weekly academic seminar series of the Department, designed to promote rigorous research, critical thinking, and scholarly dialogue among research scholars and faculty members. Under this platform, research scholars present the progress of their ongoing research work, articulate their theoretical frameworks, methodologies, and preliminary findings, and engage in constructive academic discussions.
Each session of Shastrarth serves as an interactive forum for the exchange of ideas, interdisciplinary perspectives, and methodological insights. Faculty members and fellow scholars actively participate by offering critical feedback, raising analytical questions, and suggesting new dimensions for further research. This collective engagement helps scholars refine their arguments, strengthen their research design, and broaden the scope of their studies.
Through regular Saturday presentations, Shastrarth has emerged as a vital academic exercise that nurtures a vibrant research culture, encourages intellectual collaboration, and enhances the overall quality and relevance of research undertaken in the Department.

The 14th sequel of the Saturday Presentation Series (Shastrarth) will focus on the topic “BRI & India–Middle East–Europe Economic Corridor: Geopolitical Impact in the Context of India’s Look West Policy.”
The session aims to critically examine the strategic and geopolitical implications of China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) vis-à-vis the emerging India–Middle East–Europe Economic Corridor (IMEEC). It will highlight India’s evolving Look West Policy, assessing opportunities, challenges, and shifting power dynamics in the broader West Asian and European regions.
